A porcelain veneer is an ultra-thin shell of dental-grade porcelain — typically 0.5–1mm thick — custom-fabricated in a dental laboratory and bonded permanently to the front of a tooth. Unlike a crown, which covers the entire tooth, a veneer covers only the visible front surface, requiring minimal removal of healthy enamel.
A single set of veneers can correct several issues at once: stains that do not respond to whitening (including tetracycline staining), chips and cracks, gaps between teeth (diastema), mildly crooked teeth, short or asymmetrical teeth, and enamel worn by erosion or grinding.
